Ubisoft Officially Reveals Free-To-Play Battle Royale Hyper Scape

Earlier this week, Ubisoft’s plans of a battle royale game of their own titled Hyper Scape were leaked online. Today, the developer/publisher has made it official; finally announcing the free-to-play battle royale FPS game to the world.

Hyper Scape is slated to release for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in summer 2020. However, PC players can look forward to the game’s limited and closed ‘Technical Test’ that will run from 2 July to 7 July 2020, with more ‘phases’ to follow in the months and weeks nearing the full release.

The game is set in a VR world called the Hyper Scape, where 100 players split into three squads to compete for victory in a sport called Crown Rush. They can either win by being the last team standing, or by claiming a crown objective in the final phase of the match and holding onto it for 45 seconds.

Hyper Scape stands out from other battle royale games by taking place on an entirely urban map, which is littered with jump pads to allow for fast-paced and dynamic vertical movement.

Unlike other games, Hyper Scape is especially connected to Twitch, allowing spectators to exert a certain level of influence over games and earn rewards just by watching matches. During the aforementioned PC ‘Technical Test’, viewers will be able to vote on in-game events, such as giving all players unlimited ammo and more.

When the full game releases, viewers will also be able to unlock battle pass progression by watching streams of Hyper Scape and even join the squad of their favourite streamers.

According to IGN, the Hyper Scape PC ‘Technical Test’ features nine different weapons, nine ‘hacks’; special abilities such as teleporting and an invisibility cloak of sorts, and a 10-tier battle pass for free. Oh, and everything earned from it will be carried over into the full release of the game.

However, just like Riot Games’ Valorant, you’ll need more than a little luck to gain access. To get in and play during the ‘Technical Test’, you have to watch Hyper Scape streams on Twitch and wait for a random Twitch Drop. That’s the only way for now.

In the meantime, check out the gameplay trailer for Hyper Scape below.
