Disney Confirms Tron 3 Starring Jared ‘Joker’ Leto

The last Tron movie came out over 10 years ago, with 2010’s Tron legacy garnering over US$400 million worldwide. Now, Disney has finally confirmed a new Tron movie to be directed by Garth Davis and starring Jared Leto in the lead role.
Davis is best known for 2018’s Mary Magdalene and 2016’s Lion, which received six Oscar nominations, including for Best Picture. This new Tron movie, or Tron 3, would mark Davis’ major big-budget movie.
I’m struck with such gratitude for the opportunity to bring this movie to life, especially as both the original video game and the film affected me so deeply as a young child. The fact that I get to be a part of this new chapter is mind-blowing. pic.twitter.com/94MN6tT8Bs

Jesse Wigutow wrote the most recent draft of the script, while Leto himself is also producing alongside Justin Springer and Emma Ludbrook.
The original 1982’s Tron starring Jeff Bridges was set inside the computer program called the Grid, where a computer hacker is abducted and forced to participate in gladiatorial games. It was iconic for its neon computer graphics and special effects, which were incredible at the time.
However, according to Deadline, the movie is still in early development even though it already has its director. In that case, it may be a while yet before we’ll see this movie, especially in this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
