Local Comic Magazine Gempak KGS Is Shutting Down

Many Malaysians grew up with the local comic magazine Gempak, since it was started getting published in 1998. It was the first Malaysian info-comic magazine, offering news and articles about the ACG (Animation, Comics & Games) world in and outside of the country.

I myself collected Gempak magazines when I was a kid, especially when Internet services weren’t as widespread and easily accessible as they are now. In the past few years, Gempak has stopped publishing physical magazines and moved to an online digital portal called Gempak KGS.

Today, they announced that Gempak KGS is effectively shutting down on 30 November 2020, bringing an end to over two decades of publishing local and global ACG news.

However, their official YouTube channel Gempak 360 will still be operating as usual, so at least Gempak fans will still have content to look forward to.
