Sony Interactive Sets Up Southeast Asia Hub In Singapore
The times, they are a-changing.
Sony Interactive’s Southeast Asia division has now set up its headquarters in Singapore (via Geek Culture). Previously, Sony Interactive’s Asia hub was working out of Hong Kong, with a PlayStation Asia office in Singapore.
The new division, which will be responsible for all marketing and distribution of PlayStation consoles and games in all of Singapore and Southeast Asia, will be led by its head of Asia Business Operations and PlayStation veteran Katsuhiko Murase. Murase said that the new Sony Interactive Asia hub in Singapore will be leading the Asia teams to expand PlayStation’s business. Other higher-ups who will be helming the Asia hub will be Asua West Commercial Lead Mustafa YiÄŸit and SIE Hong Kong’s Jacqueline Chiu.
This does explain why the Singapore market received the PS5 earlier on 19th November while the rest of Southeast Asia like Malaysia and The Philippines received their local versions a few weeks later. Gamers in SEA did kick up quite a fuss last month over this, among other things. Still, better late than never, right?
