Guess Which Celebrity Received The Official Malaysian PlayStation 5 Set?
The celebrity and influencer marketing courtesy of PlayStation Asia continues. First with Singapore singer JJ Lin for the Singapore set of the PS5, now it’s Malaysian singer Yuna.
The Malaysian celebrity, known for her hit single song “Crush” and “Stay Where You Are”, is the first person in the country to receive the Malaysian set of the Sony PlayStation 5 (Facebook via Lowyat.net). This is done to hype up the upcoming console’s release on 11th December, a console that is still hard to get pre-orders in this month, we wager.

Yuna has a hand in doing tech and gaming promos with companies like HP and her own Twitch stream with her husband, so she’s no stranger to gaming.
On a related note, Philippines cosplayer superstar Alodia received her PH set PS5 this week as well. She and her sister Ashley has been working closely with PlayStation Asia for a number of marketing promotions for titles like Horizon: Zero Dawn. So this is on par with the branch’s strategy to using celebrities in Southeast Asia who are renowned for dipping into gaming culture.

The celebrity marketing angle is consistent with PlayStation’s plans; SIE picked up Travis Scott as a creative partner in hyping up the system.
The majority of Southeast Asia is getting their PS5 pre-orders sent in a little late, since the US, Europe, Australia, and Singapore got theirs last month. Stay tuned to our upcoming review of the PS5 on launch week.
