Genshin Impact KFC Crossover Event Shuts Down Due To Pandemic Concerns
When you combine a hit anime waifu RPG game with a giant fast-food crossover event, you’re bound to get a huge crowd; a big no-no in a COVID-19 world right now. As such, the Genshin Impact and Kentucky Fried Chicken crossover event in China has been shut down.
Due to a ton of people filling up KFC outlets in Shanghai and Hangzhou and inadvertently violating China’s ongoing COVID-19 prevention measures, the KFC outlets in the country had no choice but to announce the bad news on Weibo recently. Basically, the event gave fans a chance to win special pins featuring characters such as Noelle and Diluc. Customers were asked to shout the following phrase when attempting to get the pin:
“Meet in another world, enjoy delicious food!”
To get the KFC themed Diluc and Noelle pins you must go up to a KFC employee in store and loudly say "Meet in another world, Enjoy delicious food".
Then you will be given the pin with your meal. https://t.co/LgFLfpc7cu pic.twitter.com/B5i9LQiRzt

Compared to the rest of the world, China got the pandemic under control. Still, having large crowds gathering at KFC fast food joints for copious amount of hours -a LOT of people are playing this game FYI- is cause for concern. This isn’t stopping Mihoyo from bringing fast-food crossovers like this globally and outside of China, albeit with different rewards.
The next Genshin Impact event is happening later on 16th March. Find out more about it here.
