The Highlights Of 2021’s First Capcom Pro Tour Tournament In Japan
Yesterday, Capcom just kicked off its first-ever Capcom Pro Tour Street Fighter 5 tournament series, starting with Japan. The biggest killers of Street Fighter & 2D fighting games attended from Daigo to Tokido, and many of them made it pretty, pretty far in the tournament.
In the end, there can only be one winner: Mago, who used a really offensive Cammy during the major Street Fighter 5 tournament. Folks like Tokido who used Akuma back then has changed characters just for 2021 because of their skillsets. Funny enough, Urien is nerfed in 2021’s Street Fighter 5 update, so make of that what you will. And as predicted, the recently-buffed world warrior Ryu made a grand showing in this 2021 esports event, considering how terrible he was in past SF5 iterations.
Here is your list of winners:
Highlights of the tournament include:
Momochi showing his multi-character talent and proving that Seth is still top-tier even with his bad nerfs.

The most insanely long zoner vs grappler match ever, even for esports standards. Daigo held it out very long and patient against Itazan, known for using grapplers like Zangief and Abigail. In the end, the latter won out and proceeded further into the tournament.

Itazan also reminds players that V-Shift is NOT a tool you should be spamming. The wrong V-Shift reads mean a free Critical Art for the opponent.

The infamous miss from Momochi when he thought he would connect with Ryu’s Shoryuken at that moment. Tokido capitalized on his mistake and moved on to grand finals against Mago.
