We Are Getting More SaGa Remastered JRPGs After SaGa Frontier
It’s like the mid-90s all over again, but with a smoother coat of paint.
Square Enix has confirmed on a recent livestream that it will be releasing more remasters of the SaGa series by designer Akitoshi Kawazu, a few days after it has released its latest remaster of the PS1 “classic” SaGa Frontier. I say “classic” because it was a rushed game with no proper climax; the remaster at least has the decency to add just that and a whole lot of other things like the missing eighth character Fuse who ties all of the seven selectable character’s plot threads together.
The SaGa games are notorious for having out-there game mechanics that are usually vague or poorly explained. They were breakthroughs in Romancing SaGa and its sequels, but were not the best ideas in Unlimited SaGa. It’ll be nice to see the other SaGa games getting a remaster and some much-needed upgrades and quality of life tweaks. These include SaGa Frontier 2 and Unlimited SaGa.
