Check Out Some High Level Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown Play From Itabashi Zangief
Before Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter V dominated his competitive life, Itabashi Zangief (or Itazan) was a pro player at Sega’s Virtua Fighter series. He was the top player in Evolution Championship Series 2007, beating other pros like Nuki, Otome, and Tokido to secure his number 1 spot.
So naturally once Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown/Virtua Fighter x esports was announced by Sega, Itazan decides to head back to his 3D fighting game roots in today’s Sega livestream of the updated-for-2021 fighting game. With a new tournament season called the Virtua Fighter Esports Challenge Cup happening soon starting 18th July (preseason), it looks like the classic 3D fighting game is making a comeback.
Here’s the 10 minutes+ battle featuring Itazan using his main character Shun, beating up his opponents left and right.
Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown will be out for PS4 on 1st June. The game features a full graphical remake, classic game modes & competitive features (like online play), and enhanced spectator options. Sadly, no rollback netcode.
