We May Be Getting Persona 5 For PC, Xbox, & Nintendo Switch In The Far Future…

Thanks to Sega’s global success with RPG title Yakuza: Like A Dragon, the company may consider releasing Atlus and Persona RPGs to other platforms and consoles in the near future.

According to a Famitsu interview with Sega’s Chief Strategy Officer and general manager of Asia and Japan Studios Shuji Utsumi, he said that a simultaneous release of an Atlus game on multiple platforms will be favourable for our titles.

“Of course, we have to make adjustments on a per title basis, but we want to be conscious of global expansion not only for Sega, but also for Atlus titles as well. Due to the large amount of text, the staff has a lot of work to do, but I believe that if the customers are happy by overcoming these difficulties, then it should be worth the effort.”

That is understandable, considering that the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona games are full of rich dialogue and character-speaking moments. Even with a large company like Sega and Atlus at the helm, quality localization is going to take a lot of time.

Other highlights in the interview include:

  • Yakuza: Like a Dragon being the first full-fledged multiplatform release in the series, out worldwide without any delay.
  • The reason Sega’s Toshihiro Nagoshi decided to go from Chief Creative Officer to creative director at Sega is because not many can create hit global titles. It can be difficult to make a profit unless a title is a success globally, so he wants to concentrate on developing big titles.
  • Sega to announce a new Sonic game soon.

On a related note, Shin Megami Tensei V will be out worldwide in 2021 for Nintendo Switch. We’re not sure if that date will change given the state of the world right now.
