We Might Get A Cult Classic For PS Plus In June [Update]

Update [11pm 25/5/21]: It’s confirmed – Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown is a confirmed remake exclusive to PS4 next week. This new version of the last Virtua Fighter game will feature brand new graphics built in a brand new engine and new online features. Hopefully, it’s rollback netcode.

Original story

Sony has yet to announce the official lineup for PlayStation Plus June 2021, but it looks like we might get a classic if the rumours are true.

According to a new report from Spanish publication Areajugones, Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown is apparently set to be one of the three PS Plus titles coming to the subscription service in June 2021.

It’s no coincidence that in April 2021, Sega teased new art and a title for an upcoming ‘Virtua Fighter esports’ game, but the publisher will only be revealing it officially on 27 May 2021 in a special live stream.

The same report claims that the other two games are Star Wars Squadrons and Operation Tango. Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown originally launched for the PS3 and Xbox 360 back in 2012.

Take all this with a grain of salt for now, but we will be reporting on the official lineup for PS Plus June 2021 in the near future.
