Square Enix Announces New Secret Of Mana Games, But… [Update]

Good news, Mana fans and action RPG enthusiasts. Square Enix announces a new entry in the fabled Mana/Seiken Densetsu series during its Mana series 30th anniversary live stream.

(Un)fortunately for you, it’s an iOS and Android mobile RPG game with gacha elements. It’s called Echoes of Mana, it features all the old Mana characters from Final Fantasy Adventure to even Dawn of Mana heroes, and is a top-down action RPG with crisp 2D graphics and gameplay.

It still looks better than the Secret of Mana 3D remake, which you should never, ever buy and play under any circumstances. Check out the gameplay of Echoes of Mana below:

Take heart though: a new Mana series game for console is actually in development, producer Masaru Oyamada confirmed (via Games Talk).

“We wanted to announce it by running a cool trailer, but we’re only at the start of the 30th anniversary. But we are in fact developing [a new title], but please wait a little while longer until the proper announcement. Although we did have [Mana series creator Koichi Ishii] take a look at it a little bit ago. We’re at that level [of development], so please look forward to it.

Development still has some way to go… We are developing for console, so I hope you can look forward to it.”
