[Report] Everwild Development Is Now Starting From Scratch; Will Be Out 2024

When we saw the new Rare Xbox game Everwild from 2019 a while back, we were awed but also perplexed as to what kind of game it was. Turns out, neither did Rare.

According to reports on Video Games Chronicle, Everwild will be rebooted by the studio, with the upcoming open-world adventure game now under a new creative director. Oh, and will also have a 2024 release window. Reports have stated that the game has undertaken a “complete overhaul of the game’s design and direction” following the departure of Rare’s previous creative director Simon Woodroffe. The new creative director? Gregg Mayles, who has worked with Rare for more than three decades. Here’s an official statement from Everwild executive director Louise O’Connor:

“Gregg Mayles joined us, late last year as Creative Director, and the team has never been stronger.

Since showing the world our Eternals trailer, we have been making progress on all aspects of Everwild. The team continues to work hard to realise our vision and to bring the magic of nature in Everwild to life for players around the world.”

Everwild did not make a peep at this year’s Xbox Bethesda showcase at E3 2021. The game was revealed early in November 2019. It’ll now have a release window of 2024.
