Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands – What We Know So Far
Gearbox announced the next Borderlands spin-off game: Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, slated for 2022. The team has revealed a lot more information than the trailer did (via IGN).
Here’s a breakdown:
According to game director Matt Cox, the game’s setting and key details is a brand new adventure in a brand-new world. For Borderlands lore hounds, the game takes place right after Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, the Borderlands 2 DLC.
Unlike Borderlands, you can create and customize your own hero who can take on multiple classes.
There’s a lot of voice talent in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Ashly Burch returns to voice Tiny Tina, Andy Samberg (Brooklyn 99) will voice Captain Valentine, Will Arnett (LEGO Batman, Bojack Horseman) will play the main antagonist the Dragon Lord, and Wanda Sykes (Harley Quinn, Broad City) plays a “rules-obsessed robot” called Fret.
Just like past Borderlands games, the game will have loads of weapons and loot to collect and amass. Your fantasy character can use guns, melee weapons, and spells. Spells are replacing grenades and they’re going to be special abilities ala Zane’s spy skills, but more D&D than high tech. To quote Matt Cox:
“We actually like to think of our spells more as mini-skills, because of their power and their variety of behaviours.”
Players will also score armour and amulets that add skills and stat changes, as well as new buffs and abilities befitting of an action RPG title.
All enemies in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will be fantasy creatures and archetypes that will be twisted by Tiny Tina’s deranged mind. Like great white sharks with legs. Expect some crazy takes on high fantasy beasties.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will be out for PC and consoles in 2022.
