Netflix To Expands Into Video Games Next Year
Not content with movies and TV shows, Netflix is reported to be going into the video game-making business next year.
According to Bloomberg, Netflix plans to add games to its service and has hired Facebook’s VR games content head/former EA mobile game lead Mike Verdu to be the company’s vice president of game development. Verdu will be reporting to Chief Operating Officer Greg Peters.
There’s no other word on how the process will entail, or which game development studios/contractors will Netflix hire in-house to make its video games. On a related note, Google and Amazon have yet to release a game or a game-related service of their own that’s worth a darn. Remember Crucible, a game that folded a few months after being in beta? Of course you didn’t. Or how about game streaming service Stadia? Yeah, exactly.
Guess we’ll have to wait until next year if Netflix plans to shake things up.
