[Report] NetEase Games Is Poaching Yakuza’s Toshihiro Nagoshi From Sega
It’s a possible end of an era for Sega, according to a recent Bloomberg report.
NetEase Games is in final negotiations to poach Yakuza and Super Monkey Ball creator Toshihiro Nagoshi from Sega. According to sources close to the deal, Nagoshi is going to set up his own team to create new games, though there hasn’t been a signed final contract as of yet.
NetEase Games, a Chinese mobile game-making company, has been making its presence felt in the Japanese video game market as of late. The company is currently investing in Marvelous and PlatinumGames (who just showcased more Sol Cresta gameplay). The company has also established a Shibuya-based video game company called Ouka Studio, led by Bandai Namco veteran Tetsuya Akatsuka.
