Diablo 2: Resurrected Design Director Asks Customers To “Do What They Feel Is Right”

Blizzard has been in hot water the past few months or so with the recent workplace abuse and harassment lawsuit. So it’s no surprise that one of the developers of the upcoming action RPG remaster of Diablo 2 is making a plea.

In an Axios Gaming interview, Diablo 2: Resurrected design director Rob Gallerani says that players who are deciding to buy the game should “do what they feel is right”, leaving the decision up to the players.

“It was definitely very troubling to hear these types of things. And we really wanted to support our colleagues and our co-workers.”

After all, many of them probably do not want to support Activision Blizzard following the lawsuit and its recently-tarnished reputation. The dev team did do a full scrub to see if any references, names, or quests needed to be removed or changed; nothing was found.

It’s quite a conundrum if we’re being honest. It’s easy to boycott a company’s games because of the uncovering of its long series of abusive actions, but the company has many, many developers, art folks, programmers, and others who need the stability the company offers. There really is no guarantee if scrubbing the top brass of the company may solve the issue in the long run, and most of the company’s key players have already left years ago.

Would a rebranding-slash-renaming and refocus on top projects (like Diablo IV and Overwatch 2) be beneficial instead? Who knows? All we know is that the situation isn’t as black and white as it should be.

What i feel right is to ignore this game. And let them continue to ask “do you not have phones?!” Also let them continue ignorin employee feedback.
