PS5 Sales In Japan Surpass One Million Faster Than PS4 Did
By Alleef Ashaari|September 9, 2021|0 Comment
Back in July 2021, Sony announced that the PS5 has sold more than 10 million units worldwide. Now, Famitsu (via Gematsu) has reported that total sales for the PlayStation 5 have surpassed one million units in Japan alone.
As of 5 September 2021, the PS5 has sold 1,012,656 units in Japan. This number includes 847,421 units of the standard model and 165,235 units of the Digital Edition. Last week, the PS5 sold 15,580 and 1,495 units of each respective model.
In addition, the highest selling game at retail is Capcom’s Resident Evil Village with over 67,000 copies sold since it launched in May 2021. In comparison, the PS4 didn’t reach one million units in Japan until after almost a year following its initial February 2014 launch.
In the meantime, you can check out my in-depth and no-holds-barred thoughts on the PS5 after having it for more than a month. However, if you’re looking for a more straightforward review, you should head on over here instead.
