Singapore Management University Crowned Winners Of Inaugural MGA UEL Valorant Series

Singapore Management University (SMU) has been announced as the winners of the MGA UEL Valorant Series following an intense 3-day Grand Final series, while Sunway University took second place and Asia Pacific University held third place in the competition.

Having kicked off in July 2021, the MGA UEL VALORANT Series had sought out the best university esports teams across Malaysia & Singapore to compete in the recently launched collegiate esports circuit. After concluding its round of Regional Qualifiers in East Malaysia, South & Central Malaysia, North & West Malaysia and Singapore, the competition boiled down to 8 teams competing in the 3-day Grand Final Series.

The winning team took home RM2,500 in cash, while the runner-up and second runner-up took RM1,500 and RM1,000 respectively.

As part of its umbrella competition program, the winning teams from the UEL MGA VALORANT Series are set to advance to compete in MSI’s MGA University Championship, a Southeast Asian esports circuit participated by the best collegiate teams in the region including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam.

Singapore Management University (SMU) Team ZBP captain Matheaus Tan said:

“We are extremely proud of our accomplishment in the competition and look forward to competing against the best teams in Southeast Asia at the MGA University Championship.

We would also like to thank the organizers of UEL, partners, sponsors for making this possible, as well as Singapore Management University for supporting us throughout the competition.”

While the first season of UEL draws to a close, the next season promises a higher degree of competition and esports culture between universities.

Last month, three Malaysian universities won the UEL Dota 2, Mobile Legends Bang Bang and League Of Legends Wild Rift categories.
