Esports Is Now Recognized As A Professional Sport In Thailand
By Alleef Ashaari|October 7, 2021|0 Comment
The Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) has announced that Thailand has now officially recognised esports as a professional sport. According to the AESF, the Thai Government now understands the full potential of the esports industry. They will be working alongside the Thai E-Sports Federation (TESF) to provide training in esports in the country.
What this means is that esports is now regarded on the same level as other professional sports in Thailand including football, golf, badminton, and more.
Recently, esports has experienced massive growth in Asia through official participation in various regional Olympic events such as the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in Manila, Philippines. The momentum will continue as Esports will also feature at the 2021 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Thailand and the 2021 Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam.
