Runescape Makers Team Up With Indie Studio And Its Successful Clicker Game

Jagex, the folks behind Runescape, is teaming up with indie studio Games by Malcs to publish a not-so-brand-new title that’s kinda like Runescape, but not quite.

The game is called Melvor Idle and it’s a feature-rich idle game that’s inspired by Runescape and is made by one Brendan Malcolm. You just click a bunch of options and see things progress in a fantasy stats-driven universe; that’s it!

Melvor Idle is currently in early access and has already been downloaded more than 600,000 times across Steam, App Store, and Google Play. Melvor Idle features the following; impressive for a clicker game:

  • Extremely in-depth Combat system, with 8 different unique Combat Skills to train, as well as countless Dungeons, Bosses and Lore to visit.
  • 14 Non-Combat Skills to train to aid in your adventures, all with individual mechanics and interactions with each other.
  • Offline progression for all Skills, including Combat.
  • No prestige mechanics. There is always something new to unlock in your journey.
  • Over 1000 unique items for you to discover and try out
  • 150 unique, powerful Monsters to face, including 16 Bosses awaiting at the end of Dungeons.
  • Over 40 very cute Pets to collect!
  • Skilling Mastery System to help enhance your Non-Combat Skills in many different ways.
  • Cloud Saving functionality that is also compatible with all versions of the game on other Platforms. You can play the same save everywhere else!
  • Fully fledged out and interactive Bank/Inventory System.
  • Solo Developer, Monthly content updates, and planned expansions after full-release.

Just goes to show that if your idle clicker game stands out enough, you may aspire for great things like being bought over by a giant publisher.
