Falcom Will Release New Trails Of RPGs By September 2022…

Falcom just revealed its new financial results for the fiscal year ending September 2021, and it’s committed to the Trails of RPG franchise.

Falcom said that there will at least be a new Trails of game by the end of September 2022. The company will also develop Nintendo Switch titles in-house starting 2022. Here are some key takeaways from the report.

  • 2022 marks the 35th anniversary of Falcom’s flagship Ys series. Other than a budget price version of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox for PlayStation 4, there will be plans for new Ys titles. No confirmed dates or time window though.
  • Starting in 2022, Falcom will develop Switch titles internally, starting with the Switch version of The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails.
  • In the fiscal year ending September 2022, Falcom plans to release the latest entry in the Trails series in its native country of Japan. Trails is one of Falcom’s flagship series, with over six million copies sold worldwide and accolades from the Japan Game Awards, Famitsu Awards, PlayStation Awards, and more.
  • Falcom will promote multiplatform game development across consoles, PC, and smartphones for Japan, North America, Europe, and Asia. The company will also actively utilize its intellectual properties to produce new titles that act as new challenges for the company, including the Trails and Ys series.

Can’t say no to more Trails of and Ys RPGs. For more on the latter, check out our review of Ys IX.
