Konami has announced that they will remove Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 from digital storefronts starting 8 November 2021 for a temporary period of time.
However, before you get your hopes up for a remaster or remake of those iconic games, the Japanese company has stated that the reason for the removals is because they are currently working on renewing the licenses for select historical archive footage used in-game.
The following Metal Gear titles will be removed:
Back in October 2021, there were rumours that Konami is working on new games from the Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Silent Hill franchises. This includes a possible Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater remake in development at an external studio in China and the Singapore-based Virtuos studio, as well as remasters of the original Metal Gear Solid games for modern consoles.
As of now, Konami has yet to announce any remasters or remakes for Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3. Their last new Metal Gear game was the universally-derided Metal Gear Survive in 2018.
