Masayuki Uemura, The Creator Of The NES & SNES, Is Dead
We bid farewell to yet another legend of video games.
Masayuki Uemura, the lead architect for the Famicom/NES and the Super Famicom/SNES has passed away on 6th December. He was 78, according to an Oricon News report.
Previously, Uemura worked at Sharp, selling photocell technology to various companies. Though everything changed when he got a call from Nintendo in 1981 to make a machine that could play games on cartridges.
Ritsumeikan University will be holding a memorial service for Uemura, which will be announced at a later date. Rest in peace, Uemura, and thank you for one of the most important contributions to gaming history.
