[Rumour] Star Wars Eclipse Is Facing Development Problems

Adventure game makers Quantic Dream might be in deep while in the midst of making the next Star Wars game.

Star Wars Eclipse was announced earlier this month, but already it’s facing development troubles. According to a recent exposé from VGC writer Tom Henderson,  Star Wars Eclipse started out as an MMORPG named Project Karma that Sony rejected for Detroit: Become Human. Quantic Dream used the assets from Karma to pitch Lucasfilm a new Star Wars game.

Quantic Dream was planning to sell itself after releasing Detroit: Become Human. However, due to the workplace accusations involving the company’s bosses David Cage and Guillaume de Fondaumiere, no one wanted to buy the studio.

On the development side of things, Quantic Dream’s in-house engine is causing problems for the Star Wars game because it was designed for confined levels and a limited amount of non-playable characters (NPC). The company is also having staffing problems due to the aforementioned accusations, as well as trying to create the game’s multiplayer.

As of this writing, the game has been in development for over 18 months, with no playable version in sight. Keep in mind that this is all still classified as rumours from various sources. But still, it may turn out that some folks may be more dependant on PlayStation and Sony than they initially thought, huh?
