Sony’s Twisted Metal Reboot Reportedly Changes Studios

Last year, it was reported that Sony PlayStation was working on a new Twisted Metal reboot. However, they have yet to officially announce one yet. Now, a new report has claimed that the new Twisted Metal reboot has changed studios, from Destruction All-Stars developer Lucid Games to an unidentified first-party studio somewhere in Europe.

A Twisted Metal game reboot being in development is likely to coincide with the upcoming Twisted Metal TV series, which is confirmed to be in the works at PlayStation Studios with the writers behind the Deadpool and Zombieland movies, as well as Captain America actor Anthony Mackie in the lead role.

According to sources from VGC, the reason why Sony decided to switch studios is due to the bad reception to Destruction All-Stars when it came out last year. Despite releasing on PS Plus, it struggled to build a stable player base. However, none of this has been confirmed by Sony or PlayStation yet, so let’s take all this with a grain of salt.

The only thing confirmed so far is the Twisted Metal TV series. Maybe we’ll hear more about this new Twisted Metal game this year? Fingers crossed. The last Twisted Metal game was 2012’s Twisted Metal Black for the PS3.
